Moldova to receive $2.113 million grant for modernizing medical rehabilitation services

The Cabinet of Ministers approved today the signing of a grant agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development concerning the co-financing of the project Modernization and Improvement of Rehabilitation Services. The grant amounting to $2.113 million will contribute to improving preventive and rehabilitation medical services in the Republic of Moldova.

The grant project aims to strengthen services for patients at increased risk of cardiovascular diseases, such as stroke and myocardial infarction. It will contribute to the development of national protocols on the prevention and management of non-communicable diseases; training of multidisciplinary teams in primary healthcare; expanding telemedicine and digital health programs; conducting public awareness campaigns; developing guides and operational procedures for integrating rehabilitation services and monitoring patients’ recovery after stroke or heart disease.

The grant agreement will take effect upon signing and will be implemented until 30 September 2028.
