European Night of Museums to be held in Moldova
Chisinau, 13 May /MOLDPRES/ - More cultural actions will be organized in the museum institutions from Moldova on 14 May, on the occasion of the International Museum Day and the European Night of Museums, the 2022 issue, titled The Force of Museums.
The European Night of Museums is an event at the 18th edition and was initiated by the Culture Ministry of France and is presently patronized by UNESCO, Council of Europe and the International Council of Museums (ICOM).
Thus, on 14 May, during 10:00-22:30, more actions will be held at the National Ethnography and Natural History Museum: book launches, concerts, artistic programmes, workshops for manufacturing wood objects, clothes, the Fair of Popular Craftsmen, etc.
On the same day, the permanent and temporary exhibitions of the National Art Museum of Moldova will be able to be visited at the institution during 17:00-23:00. Also, workshops on engraving for young people and adults, a poetry workshop, creation workshops for children, a master-class will be carried out. Music recitals given by numerous artistic bands and young professionals will be held at the same museum.
At the same time, the National History Museum of Moldova during 18:00-23:00 will provide a special programme, which includes: free of charge visiting of the permanent and temporary exhibitions of the museum; 18:00-23:30 – visiting the museum’s permanent exhibition, music recitals, a choreographic show, etc.
The International Council of Museums established the International Museum Day in 1977 and the first event was held in Berlin in 1997. Starting from 2005, Moldova, along with those 47 European states, has been marking the International Museum Day and the European Night of Museums on 18 May. ICOM annually proposes a special subject for this event. This year, the title of the International Museum Day is The Force of Museums, which encourages the turning to good account of the museums’ heritage.
