Foreign Affairs Ministry's state secretary says Moldova firmly committed to path toward EU, determined to be part of safer Europe
The strategic objective of Moldova is to deepen the cooperation with European and Transatlantic partners, based on democratic principles, shared values and mutual respect. Our country is firmly committed to the path of European integration, which reflects the will of the people and the determination to be part of a stronger and safer Europe. State Secretary of the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) Valeriu Mija has made statements to this effect at the conclusion of the Moldova Security Forum 2026.
According to the official, the event demonstrated that security is essential for all states, while the experience of recent years highlights the need to continuously strengthen democratic resilience.
“We must protect democracy and freedom. More than that, democracies must cooperate. We have seen how the situation in Ukraine has direct consequences for the security of Moldova and the Black Sea region. The security challenges triggered by the war in Ukraine do not stop at national borders. Countering hybrid threats requires unity, close and continuous cooperation. No institution and no country can solve this problem alone,” Valeriu Mija said.
The MAE state secretary noted that the European Union continued to strengthen its security and preparedness capacity, while investments in Moldova are, in fact, investments in Europe.
“We are pleased that this year’s forum has become a valuable and trusted platform for dialogue, partnerships and addressing strategic challenges. We are all facing increasingly complex and continuously evolving challenges, and the Moldova Security Forum will play an increasingly important role in promoting common perspectives, cohesion, democratic resilience and regional security. We are proud that the forum facilitated strategic dialogue and promoted a culture of practical cooperation, which will contribute to a more resilient civil society and a safer and more united Europe. Together, we are stronger!” Valeriu Mija emphasized.
The 2026 Moldova Security Forum took place in Chisinau on October 8–9, bringing together more than 700 participants from the country and both sides of the Atlantic, including politicians, military leaders, experts, and representatives of civil society and the media.
The third edition of the forum is held under the theme, Strengthening Democratic Resilience and Security through Strategic Vision and Multilateral Cooperation, against the backdrop of increasingly complex security challenges facing Moldova and the region.
