Famous Moldovan actor marks birthday anniversary
Chisinau, 12 February /MOLDPRES/ - Vasile Zubcu-Codreanu - a theatre and film actor, Art Master, the man who played the part of poet Mihai Eminescu in the Luceafarul (The Evening Star) film by director Emil Loteanu, turned 71 today.
Vasile Zubcu-Codreanu was born in Nisporeni in 1948. In 1973, he graduated from the Chisinau-based Arts Institute, Stage Management Faculty. Starting from 1973 till 1993, he worked as actor at the Luceafarul Theatre. In 1993, Vasile Zubcu-Codreanu was actor at the Mihai Eminescu National Theatre.
He played in movies made at the studios Moldova-Film and Telefilm-Chisinau. In 1971, Vasile Zubcu-Codreanu debuted at Moldova-Film, playing the part of Ilie Velcu in the film Lautarii (The Fiddlers). In 1973, he started his career on stage in a drama by Ion Podoleanu, Pe un picior de plai (In a poetic realm), playing the part of Petre.
Vasile Zubcu-Codreanu played the part of poet Mihai Eminescu in a film by director Emil Loteanu, Luceafarul (The Evening Star), with the sound track signed by composer Eugen Doga. He played parts in more movies, among which Dimitrie Cantemir, Casa părintească (Parents Home), Bărbații încărunțesc de tineri (Men go grey while young), etc.
Vasile Zubcu-Codreanu also played in the performances Săptămâna patimilor (The Passions’ Week) by Ion Podoleanu, Mozart and Salieri, The Gypsies by A.S. Pushkin, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey, Master Manole, King Lear by William Shakespeare, The Optimist Tragedy by V. Vishnevski, Children of the Sun by Maksim Gorky.
In 1998, Vasile Zubcu-Codreanu was awarded the honorific title, Art Master.
