Four historical monuments on both banks of Dniester River to be restored with EU's support

Four cultural and historical heritage sites located on both banks of Dniester will be restored and enhanced with the support of the European Union, under a project with a total value of 288,000 euros. The initiative aims to preserve emblematic monuments and promote the tourism and cultural potential of the region.

Among the sites included in the project, there is Tipova Monastery, one of the best-known cave monastic complexes of Moldova. Placed on the steep bank of Dniester, the monastery is renowned for its cells carved into the rock and for the spectacular landscape that attracts numerous tourists and pilgrims every year.

The former Savings Bank Building, which will also be restored, is an edifice of architectural and historical value, representative of the urban heritage of the Tighina city. The monument is considered a symbol of the region’s economic and administrative past.

The project also includes the Great Synagogue in Rascov, one of the most important monuments of Jewish heritage in the area between the Dniester and Prut rivers. The building preserves valuable architectural elements and reflects the history of the Jewish community that contributed to the cultural and economic development of the locality.

At the same time, restoration works will be carried out at the Bell Tower in Vadul lui Rascov, a monument of historical and spiritual significance, which is part of the ensemble of the old church in the locality and represents one of the architectural symbols of the area.

The Culture Ministry says that the project funded by the European Union aims not only to preserve cultural heritage, but also to develop tourism and strengthen cultural cooperation between communities on both banks of the Dniester River.
