Tradition, craftsmanship showcased at Moldova's Diaspora Congress 2025

An exhibition of artistic embroidery and traditional crafts, created by Mila Gorun, a Moldovan living in Vilnius (Lithuania), will be showcased at the Diaspora Congress 2025, held at the Chisinau-based Palace of the Republic.

After a career as a mathematics teacher, programmer and translator, Mila Gorun followed her passion for folk art, creating wicker baskets, handmade carpets and embroideries inspired by Moldovan traditions. Her works have been exhibited at fairs in Lithuania, Poland, Germany, France, Denmark and Moldova.

The exhibition titled, The Art of Needle, hosted by the Congress, offers visitors a journey into a world of images evoking love for Moldova and authentic cultural values.

The event is organized by the Diaspora Relations Bureau and brings together Moldovans settled abroad, in order to discuss the future of Moldova and the Diaspora's contribution to the country’s development. Among the topics covered, there are the European integration, civic activism, combating misinformation, involvement in local development and the role of youth in the Diaspora.

The event's agenda includes topic-related workshops on local development, investments, education, culture and the exchange of best practices and the day will conclude with a cultural moment dedicated to Moldova’s traditions.
