Ukrainian Culture Day celebrated in Iabloana village

Iabloana village, Glodeni district hosted the second edition of the Ukrainian Culture Day in the Republic of Moldova, paying tribute to Ukrainian traditions, music, folk costumes and community. The event gathered participants - Ukrainians, Moldovans and guests from across the country.

“Culture knows no borders – it unites us in diversity, teaching us to value and respect each other's history,” Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan said.

Counselor Ambassador of the Ukrainian Embassy Natalia Sirenko expressed congratulations.

“The festival has become a true bridge of friendship between Ukrainian and Moldovan communities. Ukrainian authenticity echoed in songs and dances, came to life in the smiles of children and the sincerity of people, pulsed in the atmosphere of solidarity and mutual respect. This is more than a cultural event — it is a space for dialogue, support, and the strength of identity that does not fade even in the darkest times.”

The program included a parade of ethnofolkloric groups, Hora flashmob, creative workshops for children and unique culinary offer.

The Interethnic Relations Agency, a partner of the event, offered certificates of appreciation to Iabloana city hall and the National Congress of Ukrainians in the Republic of Moldova, recognizing the efforts to promote social cohesion.

The Ukrainian community is one of the largest ethnic minorities in the Republic of Moldova, representing about 6.6% of the population, according to the latest census. Ukrainians mainly reside in the north and east of the country, though they are also present in other regions, including the capital. To support the preservation of this community's cultural, linguistic, and spiritual identity, central authorities, in collaboration with ethnocultural organizations and the Ukrainian Embassy, regularly organize cultural, educational and social events.
