Well-known Moldovan musician writes more orchestral arrangements
Chisinau, 11 November /MOLDPRES/ - The artistic director and first conductor of the Folclor Folk Music Orchestra of the Serghei Lunchevici National Philharmonic, People’s Artist, laureate of the National Prize Petre Neamtu has lately written over 40 orchestral arrangements for folk music songs and sentimental songs .
Contacted by MOLDPRES, Petre Neamtu said that most arrangements had been written for vocal soloists and instrumentalists, participants in the sixth issue of the TV festival and contest of young singers of folk music, Folclor Orchestra Presents and in the Festival and Contest of Creation and Singing of Sentimental Songs, The Silver Chrysanthemum, the 25th issue.
According to Neamtu, the Folclor Folk Music Orchestra will present a concert on the Youth Day on the stage of the Palace of the Republic on 17 November at 18:00.
Petre Neamtu was born in the Lunga village, northern Floresti district, on 4 February 1950. He finished the Stefan Neaga Music College and the Gavriil Musicescu State Conservatoire. Petre Neamtu started his artistic career as conductor of the Hora Ensemble of Songs and Dance in 1972 and in 1985 he became conductor of the Folclor Folk Music Orchestra.
Under the leadership of Neamtu, the Folclor orchestra made tours to more countries, including Romania, Poland, Austria, Germany, Denmark, Sri Lanka, Nicaragua and USA.
In 1989, Petre Neamtu became Merited Artist of Moldova. In 1993, the master was awarded the Civic Merit medal and in 2000 – the Labour Glory Order. In 2010, the conductor was awarded the People’s Artist honorific title. On 10 November, master Petre Neamtu was handed the National Prize ‘’for outstanding achievements in the promotion of the folklore treasure and development of the national music field.’’
