Scholarships of 1,200 lei for Roma students
Roma students will be eligible for merit-based scholarships worth 1,200 lei each in the new academic year. The program was launched by the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC), in collaboration with the Agency for Interethnic Relations, and aims to motivate Roma children and youth to continue their studies and achieve good academic results. The deadline for submitting applications is September 30, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
According to the MEC, the program provides for 60 scholarships for high school students; 15 scholarships for students in secondary technical vocational education; 20 scholarships for students in postsecondary technical vocational education; and 25 scholarships for higher education students.
Candidates between the ages of 16 and 25 who are of Roma ethnicity, are enrolled in one of the eligible educational programs, and do not receive scholarships funded by the state budget may apply for the competition.
To participate in the competition, candidates must submit an application package containing several documents, including a letter of intent; the application and competition entry form; and confirmation from the educational institution that the applicant is a student and does not receive scholarships funded by the state budget.

Subsequently, selected candidates must either submit the original documents in person or mail them to the following address: Agency for Interethnic Relations, 109/1 Alexei Mateevici St., MD-2009.
