Today Government approved the draft law amending the State Social Insurance Budget (BASS) Law for 2026. Total BASS revenues and expenditures will be increased by 1.37 billion lei, from 51.4 billion lei to 52.8 billion lei. The additional resources will ensure the timely and full payment of social benefits until the end of the year.

The most important adjustments concern increased spending on the protection of persons with disabilities, the protection of older persons, family and child protection, and unemployment benefits.

In addition, an additional 550 million lei has been allocated for measures to reduce energy vulnerability. The draft also includes measures to prevent difficulties in the payment of social benefits and to avoid arrears to beneficiaries.

“Through this budget adjustment, we are ensuring that the resources of the State Social Insurance Budget correspond to current needs and that beneficiaries will receive their benefits on time and in the amount provided by law,” said Natalia Plugaru, Minister of Labour and Social Protection.
