Ministry of Defense to receive grant of about €4.32 million to equip National Army

The Ministry of Defense will receive a grant of about €4.32 million to improve crisis response capabilities. The Foreign Policy Committee today approved the signing of an agreement with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).

Under the agreement, UNITAR will finance the implementation of the project Strengthening the Operational Capacity of the National Army of the Republic of Moldova.

The funds will be used to purchase equipment and strengthen the institutional capacities of the Ministry of Defense. In this regard, the National Army will be equipped with several transport vehicles, modular accommodation units, and field facilities. In addition, military personnel will be trained, certified, and assessed accordingly.

The document will be submitted for ratification during a plenary session of Parliament, after which the project is expected to be implemented by December 30, 2026.
