Drivers to pay less for Green Card following partial liberalization of insurance market

Drivers traveling abroad by car will pay less for purchasing Green Card. The change follows the partial liberalization of the insurance market.

'Good news for many drivers traveling abroad and buying the Green Card. It is becoming significantly cheaper,' MP Radu Marian said.

According to him, the changes are due to the entry into force of the law on the partial liberalization of the insurance market. Radu Marian also presented a calculation example where the cost of the Green Card insurance was reduced from approximately 700 lei last year for a 15-day policy, to 433 lei this year.

The cost of this type of policy varies from case to case (depending on the car, accident history, etc.). Drivers can check the policy's value by accessing the websites of insurance companies and insurance applications.

The Green Card is a mandatory insurance that all citizens of the Republic of Moldova must purchase when traveling by car to another country.

The partial liberalization came into force on January 14.
