New fake in public sphere

The Central Election Commission (CEC) warns about fake information on social networks, saying that polling stations opened for voters from the left bank of the Dniester have been "closed under the pretext of Russian influence." The post cites a so-called statement issued by the electoral authority.

According to the CEC, the published link leads to a cloned page of the Commission's website, with the false extension ".st," where a so-called statement is posted.

"Such an announcement does not exist on the official website of the institution cec.md, nor on the official social media accounts of the Commission," the institution announced.

In this context, the CEC warns that all official information regarding the organization and conduct of the parliamentary elections on September 28 can only be found on: the official website of the Commission: cec.md; voter information platforms on alegator.cec.md; the Commission social media pages: Facebook, Instagram, Telegram and TikTok.

Additionally, the CEC urges people to get informed only from official sources, report fake content, and contribute to protecting the integrity of the electoral process.
