Educational farm to be set up at College of Veterinary Medicine and Agrarian Economics in Brătușeni, with support of Czech Republic
A modern educational farm will be built at the College of Veterinary Medicine and Agricultural Economics in Brătușeni, Edineț district, with support from the Czech Republic. The project, discussed at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, with the participation of Czech Development Agency director and Livada Moldovei project representatives, aims to provide students with practical training conditions at European standards.
The project aims to enhance the practical training process for future specialists in the veterinary and agricultural fields, offering students modern learning conditions directly in the field. The farm will be equipped with high-performance equipment and the necessary infrastructure for conducting practical work.
According to the authorities, the project will strengthen agricultural education in the north of the Republic of Moldova and create new opportunities for international collaboration.'The farm will specialize in breeding mixed-breed cattle and will have a dual role: on one hand, as a practical training center for college students, and on the other hand, as a platform for continuous training and consultancy for farmers,' explains MAIA.
Representatives of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Agricultural Economics in Brătușeni state that the educational farm will be a modern training center, where students can apply the theoretical knowledge acquired in classes, and teachers will have access to the latest agricultural technologies.
The new investment is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. Currently, work is being done on conceptual projects and estimating the costs necessary for the construction and equipping of the farm. The project is part of the long-standing partnership between the Republic of Moldova and the Czech Republic in education and rural development. The College of Veterinary Medicine and Agricultural Economics in Brătușeni is the only technical vocational education institution in the Republic of Moldova that trains veterinary assistants and technicians in animal farming and primary processing. Previously, the institution benefited from the support of development partners through the AGGRI project, which equipped the institution with a mobile veterinary clinic. This is used both for the practical training of students in the field and for providing veterinary-medical services to farmers in the region.
AGGRI (Agriculture Governance, Growth and Resilience Investment) is a strategic initiative of the Republic of Moldova, launched in December 2023, and funded by the World Bank. Amounting to approximately USD 55 million, the project will run until 2029.
