Process of privatization, management of state assets to be simplified; Moldovan parliament approves new rules
The process of privatizing public property will become more transparent. The parliament has approved amendments to the Law on the Management and Privatization of Public Property in the first reading.
According to the authors, the current regulations are excessively bureaucratic, which slows down both the privatization process and the transfer of public properties to the private sector. The new provisions aim to clarify the responsibilities of the competent institutions and reduce administrative obstacles, with a focus on transparency and fairness.
The project also introduces new rules for the assets managed by the institutions subordinate to the Ministry of Education and Research. They can be transferred free of charge to local public authorities for specific periods, on the purpose of conducting educational activities.
In contrast, the document restricts the possibility of leasing, superficies, or lending public land for the construction of private housing. The only exception will be land meant for social housing.
