Moldova aligns explosives legislation with EU standards
Parliament has approved in the first reading amendments to the Law on Regulation of Civil Use Explosives, which aim to align national legislation with European Union standards.
The draft, developed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, strengthens market surveillance mechanisms and control over explosive operations. According to the new regulations, manufacturers, importers, and distributors must verify product compliance before market introduction and draw up the 'EU declaration of conformity'.
The law also provides corrective measures in cases of non-compliance or risks, including product recalls, withdrawal from the market, and informing the competent authorities.
The legislative provisions will come into effect three months after publication in the Official Journal, and the rules on transfer of explosives between Moldova and EU member states will only be applicable after the country joins the European Union.
