Energocom company of Moldova continues gas purchases for 2026-2027 cold season

The Energocom joint stock company continues the process of purchasing natural gas for the 2026-2027 gas year and last week organized nine rounds of auctions to complete the portfolio needed for the cold season, the company has announced.

According to the company, the purchases target the period as of October 1, 2026 till September 30, 2027 and are carried out in accordance with the procurement strategy approved by the company. The new auctions were organized after the rounds launched starting on 16 July and were conducted based on the natural gas procurement procedure approved by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Within the nine auction rounds, two lots were offered for purchase for the fourth quarter of 2026, with a volume of up to 276,000 MWh per quarter, three lots for the first quarter of 2027, of up to 270,000 MWh per quarter, as well as four monthly products: 150,000 MWh for November 2026, 155,000 MWh for December 2026, 108,500 MWh for January 2027 and 98,000 MWh for February 2027.

The company specifies that the gas is purchased through forward contracts, based on a price formula linked to the TTF Front Month index, according to the quotations published by Argus Media on the last day of the month preceding delivery. According to Energocom, this formula allows the necessary volumes to be reserved in advance, while the final price is updated monthly, depending on the evolution of the regional natural gas market.

The procurement process is ongoing and the company will continue to organize new auction rounds depending on gas needs, the approved strategy and market conditions.

Energocom specified that the process of contracting volumes for the 2026-2027 gas year will continue until the end of next October. Information on the contracted volumes will be made public after the completion of the procurement process, in order not to affect the fair and competitive conduct of the auctions.
