Moldova establishes national system for information protection and risk management in civil aviation
The Republic of Moldova is establishing a national information security management system in aviation, aimed at protecting flights, passengers, and airport infrastructure from potential cyberattacks or data breaches. A Regulation on the matter was approved on Wednesday by the Cabinet of Ministers.
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development (MIDR), the approval of the Regulation regarding risk management in information security impacting civil aviation safety is transposing two European regulations into national legislation.
“The new framework will enable the identification, assessment, monitoring, and management of information security-related risks, while also establishing clear responsibilities between the Civil Aviation Authority and the Cybersecurity Agency for a fast and coordinated response in case of an incident,” explains MIDR.
The regulation also provides for the training of personnel in aviation institutions, the modernization of airport infrastructure through advanced digital solutions, and the implementation of clear response procedures in risk situations.
The implementation of the national information protection system in civil aviation will enhance confidence in Moldova's air services and contribute to increased operational safety, preventing incidents that could affect passengers, aircraft, and flight operations, concludes MIDR.
