The State Chancellery, in cooperation with the European Union Partnership Mission in the Republic of Moldova (EUPM Moldova) is today organizing a roundtable on combating illicit financing and implementing international restrictive measures in the context of hybrid threats.

The event brings together two working groups supported by EUPM Moldova – the Working Group on the Implementation of International Restrictive Measures and the Working Group on Combating Illicit Financing. In total, around 55 representatives of authorities and institutions with responsibilities in the mentioned areas are taking part in the discussions.

The event aims to clarify the mandates, roles and responsibilities of national authorities, to strengthen institutional and operational capacities in preventing, detecting, investigating, prosecuting, asset recovery and neutralizing hybrid tactics, as well as to reinforce the mechanisms for implementing international restrictive measures as an essential tool for countering hybrid actions, within a structured, flexible framework adapted to current needs.

The hybrid tactics applied in the Republic of Moldova increasingly rely on illicit financing, which supports the logistics and operationalization of external interference in its various forms.

This activity is part of the Republic of Moldova’s efforts to move closer to the European Union and to strengthen its resilience to hybrid threats by enhancing the capacities of public institutions, fostering effective cooperation between them and ensuring the efficient implementation of international restrictive measures.
