Moldovan PM has meeting with representatives of top European bank

The future of Moldova’s economy is built through reforms, investments and the trust of our partners. These have been the main topics of discussion between Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and the members of the Board of Directors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The PM thanked the EBRD representatives for the support provided to the country.

“I thank them for the visit, for the open dialogue and for the constant support which the EBRD provides to Moldova. I was happy to hear their appreciation for the hospitality of our people and for the optimism with which we look ahead, despite the challenges facing the region,” said Alexandru Munteanu.

During the meeting, the officials discussed the implementation of the Growth Plan supported by the European Union and how the EBRD can help accelerate reforms and investments in key areas: agriculture, energy, environmental protection, cyber security, digitalization, artificial intelligence and the development of the private sector.

“We also addressed the economic reforms on the government’s agenda, including the modernization of state-owned enterprises and tax reform. Moldova has a development plan and partners who believe in its potential. I thank the EBRD for its trust and for the partnership that contributes to the development of our country,” concluded Alexandru Munteanu.

The EBRD is one of the most active development partners of Moldova. Since 1992, the bank has invested over 2.8 billion euros in 188 projects in various fields. According to the latest data presented by the authorities, there are currently 67 EBRD-financed projects under implementation in Moldova, with a total value exceeding one billion euros.
