Moldovan PM says three times more kilometers of road commissioned in last four years than in previous ten years
Three times more kilometers of road have been commissioned in the last four years than in the previous ten years. Prime Minister Dorin Recean today made statements to this effect during his visit to Orhei.
The PM said that, in Orhei, about 90 km of road had been modernized in the last four years. At the same time, this year, sectors of regional roads G43: R20 - Horodiste - Lalova - Izvoare - Chiperceni - R20 and G68: R20 - Orhei - Susleni - Ustia - Criuleni will be repaired.
Dorin Recean visited a recently repaired road in Orhei, with modernization works completed five months ahead of the initial deadline.
“Today, I was pleased to see that the G68 R20 – Orhei – Susleni – Ustia – Criuleni road, particularly the segment of almost 5 km between Susleni and Viscauti, was completed five months early. The people of Orhei will have access to a quality road leading to the Dniester River after many years of waiting,” emphasized Dorin Recean.
The prime minister also said that, this year, the authorities were investing 3.2 billion lei for the rehabilitation, reconstruction and maintenance of roads and bridges - the largest amount ever allocated in Moldova for road infrastructure in a single year.
Thus, for regional roads, 2.7 billion lei will be available through the Road Fund, and an additional 500 million lei has been included in the PLUS Budget for local roads. In this regard, over 570 municipalities have submitted projects to the government, in order to get funding for repairing local roads.
Moldova has a total of approximately 10,544 km of public roads, of which 3,677 km are national roads and 6,867 km are local roads.
