Chisinau International Airport launches strategic digitalization project: integrated online platform directly connected to operational systems
The state enterprise, Chisinau International Airport, has launched a large-scale digital transformation project aimed at developing an integrated online platform, meant to modernize the airport’s digital infrastructure and improve interaction with passengers, commercial partners and airlines.
According to representatives of the enterprise, the project goes beyond the concept of a simple website redesign. It involves the implementation of a complex information system, interconnected with airport operational systems and built in accordance with modern cybersecurity and accessibility standards.
“The new online infrastructure will integrate more essential components, such as a hybrid content management system (CMS); a citizen’s account with secure authentication, including via MPass and two-factor authentication; online commercial services, such as Fast Track; a reservation system for parking and business lounge; a CRM system dedicated to managing user relationships. The platform will allow online payments, generation of electronic documents, sending of automatic notifications and management of transaction history in a secure environment,” the airport authority explains.
A central element of the project is integration via API with critical airport systems. Among them, are the flight information systems; the information displays in the terminal; the platform for managing passenger requests.
“This interconnection will ensure real-time updating of information and automation of operational workflows, reducing response times and optimizing internal processes. The platform will also comply with the international WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standard, making it easier for people with reduced mobility or other special needs to use digital services,” the cited source notes.
The project is structured in seven distinct stages: analysis and design; development and integration; data migration and population; acceptance testing; piloting; launch into industrial operation and post-implementation warranty period.
The implementation team is multidisciplinary and includes a project manager, business analysts, backend and frontend developers, QA specialists, DevOps and security specialists, as well as experts in UX/UI and technical documentation. The project is being developed in line with the national regulatory framework on cybersecurity, the requirements applicable to critical infrastructure, and international standards in the field of information security.
Through this strategic investment, the state enterprise, Chișinău International Airport, aims to improve service quality for passengers, digitalize commercial processes, strengthen cybersecurity and create a sustainable technological foundation for the airport’s future developments.
