Republic of Moldova fully covered electricity consumption on October 19–25

The Republic of Moldova’s electricity needs were fully covered on October 19–25, without activating emergency assistance, while natural gas deliveries and fuel stocks remained stable. During the same period, the electricity and natural gas transmission systems operated without major incidents.

According to the Ministry of Energy, electricity consumption on the right bank of the Dniester amounted to 94,030 MWh, which is 1,146 MWh, or 1.2%, lower than during the same period last year, when 95,176 MWh was recorded.

Electricity needs were fully covered on both banks of the Dniester. On the right bank, electricity came from Termoelectrica and CET-Nord power plants, the Costești hydroelectric plant, and renewable sources. Domestic production was supplemented by imports from Romania, based on bilateral contracts and transactions on energy exchanges, as well as from Ukraine, based on bilateral contracts.

The electricity transmission network operated without unplanned failures affecting the safety of the system. No incidents disrupting the operation of the electricity system were reported in the Transnistrian region either.

From October 19–25, 10.05 million cubic meters of natural gas were consumed on the right bank of the Dniester, approximately 47.9% less than during the same period last year, when consumption amounted to 19.30 million cubic meters.

On the left bank of the Dniester, actual consumption amounted to 14.63 million cubic meters.

The Ministry of Energy stated that natural gas transmission proceeded without failures on the main pipelines, while all 81 gas delivery stations operated without incidents.

During the past week, the Republic of Moldova imported approximately 14,400 tons of fuel.

Of the total, more than 3,600 tons of gasoline were brought in from Romania and Bulgaria, while more than 10,800 tons of diesel fuel came from Romania, Greece, India, Saudi Arabia, and Oman.

Fuel stocks at petroleum depots, the Giurgiulești International Free Port, and filling stations remained stable, without significant fluctuations.

During the reference period, Termoelectrica and CET-Nord reported no incidents or breakdowns at their cogeneration facilities, which produce electricity and heat simultaneously. The plants operated normally throughout the week.

The Ministry of Energy reiterates that it will publish weekly summaries on the situation in the energy sector, including data on consumption, supply, imports, and the operation of key energy infrastructure.
