VIDEO // Ukrainian citizen illegally crossed border into Moldova by motorized paraglider and requested asylum
A Ukrainian citizen was detected today by border police officers from Larga Sector after allegedly illegally crossing the state border from Ukraine into the Republic of Moldova using a motorized paraglider. During the checks, the man requested asylum in our country.
According to the Border Police, the Ukrainian authorities informed their Moldovan counterparts that they had observed a person illegally flying across the border in Chernivtsi–Larga direction.
Based on the information received, border police officers carried out operational measures to identify and locate the person. The Ukrainian citizen was detected approximately two kilometers from the state border line.
The Border Police are continuing their investigation to establish all the circumstances of the case, in accordance with the legislation in force.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense announced that a motorized paraglider had entered the airspace of the Republic of Moldova from the direction of Chernivtsi, Ukraine. The aircraft was located at 1:32 p.m. near the village of Larga, Briceni District.
