Moldova's cybersecurity agreement signed in Brussels

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Doina Nistor signed today Moldova's cybersecurity agreement, alongside Roberto Viola, Director-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology within the European Commission.

According to MDED, in a time of continuous transformation, the agreement strengthens the digital shield of the Republic of Moldova, giving us access to a new component of Digital Europe Program – European Cybersecurity Reserve. Thus, we gain access to a European mechanism for rapid intervention in case of major cyber attacks.

The support includes specialized teams that will provide not only technical expertise but also essential resources for crisis management: equipment and licenses. Through this, the Republic of Moldova strengthens its capacity to respond quickly and efficiently to cyber threats.

“Signing this agreement is an important step in our integration into the European digital infrastructure and strengthens our commitment to protecting institutions, citizens, and democracy. During the visit to Brussels, we also discussed joining the 'Roam like at Home' zone by January 2026, so that our citizens can communicate in the EU at home rates. We also presented the progress made in developing the digital identity wallet, integrated into EVO platform, according to European EUDI standards,” Nistor said.

All these initiatives fall within a clear objective: modernization through digitalization. “Every partnership and project brings us closer to European standards of functionality, transparency and efficiency, and strengthens the trust of investors both domestically and abroad,” the official said.
