Moldovan president awards state distinctions to more writers, literary critics
President Maia Sandu today signed a decree on awarding state distinctions to more personalities in the literature field, in appreciation of their remarkable contribution to the development of culture.
The distinctions were granted for outstanding achievements in creative activity, contribution to the promotion of the country's cultural and spiritual values, as well as for strengthening the cultural identity of Moldova.
Thus, the Civic Merit Medal was awarded to writers Nicolae Popa and Victor Prohin. At the same time, the Mihai Eminescu Medal was awarded to writers Grigore Chiperi, Ion Gaina, Petru Popa, literary critic Lucia Turcanu, as well as Romanian writers Eugen Uricaru and Lucian Vasiliu.
