32 years after gaining Sovereignty, Moldova about to write new page of history, PM says
Chisinau, June 23 / MOLDPRES /- Today, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița sent a message on the 32nd anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Sovereignty, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The message reads:
"On June 23, 1990, the Republic of Moldova adopted the Declaration of Sovereignty and threw the MSSR into oblivion. A memorable and courageous decision of our intellectuals since then. A first major victory for the democratic forces and a political event that strongly influenced the process of rebirth and national liberation.
We know that the history of this piece of land was written with sweat, with sacrifices, with bloodshed, but especially with longing and love for the nation to which we belong. Every step that has given us freedom, unity and confidence in a modern and bright future - has become a cause for celebration for our people.
Today, when we mark 32 years since the declaration of sovereign state status and all the so many years since we began diplomatic relations with the countries of the world, we must focus on fulfilling the essential national objectives and strengthening the position of the Republic of Moldova abroad.
I want the Republic of Moldova to live a new victory. I want to fulfill our dream and our national ideal of recent years - to align ourselves with European states. However, obtaining the status of a candidate country will come with many opportunities, benefits and a real chance to improve the lives of citizens.
Happy birthday, Republic of Moldova!
Happy birthday, dear citizens! ”
