Moldovan Foreign Minister to visit Brussels for meetings with EU and NATO leaders

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi is paying a working visit to Brussels, Kingdom of Belgium, on 10–11 March. He will hold meetings with officials of the European Union and NATO.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on 10 March the official will meet with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas.

Popșoi will also participate, as rapporteur, together with the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Marta Kos, and the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania, Ferit Hoxha, in the session “Strengthening the European Union through Enlargement”, organized within the framework of the EU Annual Ambassadors’ Conference.

The event brings together EU ambassadors and special representatives accredited abroad, as well as the heads of missions and civilian operations carried out under the EU’s Common Security and Defence Policy.

On 11 March, Popșoi will hold meetings with the Secretary General of the Alliance, Mark Rutte. The Deputy Prime Minister will also participate in a meeting of the North Atlantic Council in the format of 32 Allies plus the Republic of Moldova, where developments in the security environment and the development of bilateral cooperation will be discussed.

The visit aims to strengthen the dialogue of the Republic of Moldova with the European Union and NATO, with a focus on cooperation in the field of security, support for strengthening resilience, and advancing the country’s European path.
