During his visit to the Transnistrian region on 26 February, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri paid a working visit to Lucian Blaga Theoretical Lyceum in Tiraspol and Alexandru cel Bun Theoretical Lyceum in Bender. During the meetings, the Deputy Prime Minister met with the management of the institutions and teaching staff.

The discussions focused on the main challenges faced by Romanian-language educational institutions in the region, identifying solutions to overcome existing difficulties, as well as on support measures that can be provided by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova.

One of the most pressing issues concerns the lack of their own premises that would ensure adequate conditions for the conduct of the educational process. The situation is all the more sensitive as in the respective localities there are buildings that could be adapted to the needs of these institutions, in the context of the constant increase in the number of applications for enrollment.

At the same time, the administrations emphasized the need to ensure real continuity between cycles of study at all educational levels, including through the deepening and diversification of educational offerings.

A particularly serious issue remains the illegal and forced conscription of young people into unconstitutional military structures, a practice that generates major obstacles for students and directly affects their educational and personal path.

The official reiterated the commitment of the authorities of the Republic of Moldova to continue supporting the right to education in the Romanian language and the uninterrupted functioning of educational institutions in the region, despite the existing difficulties.
