Citizens can collect February heating compensation

Citizens can collect the heating compensations for February, provided under the Help at the Meter program. The payments are available both on bank cards and at post offices.

Around 622,000 eligible families benefit from these compensations. Most of the payments are intended for households that use solid fuels, followed by those that heat with natural gas, district heating, and electricity.

Minister of Labour and Social Protection Natalia Plugaru stated that the Government continues to support the population during the cold season through measures that combine financial assistance with energy efficiency programs aimed at reducing long-term vulnerability.

“Starting in November, we have recorded an increase in the number of eligible households. We are committed to standing by the citizens. Thus, the Help at the Meter program continues to provide support to vulnerable households, which include pensioners, people with disabilities, young people, and children, for whom this support is indispensable during the cold season. The hotline – 0 8000 5000 – remains active, where citizens can call to receive answers to all their questions,” said Natalia Plugaru.

The Help at the Meter program has been providing energy compensations to vulnerable households for the fourth consecutive year, during the November–March period. The assistance is granted in the form of monetary payments, which are paid monthly. For this purpose, 1.5 billion lei were allocated from the state budget in 2024, and 2.34 billion lei in 2025.
