Appeal to strengthening entire society for supporting project on Moldova's EU integration
I am coming therewith a public appeal six month after I have assumed my mandate as prime minister and after five months we carried out the roadmap for pro-European reforms in Moldova.
I unveiled its results on 1 August together with Parliament Speaker. I have already noted the tasks for the next stages in implementing the EU-Moldova Association Agreement within the governmental commission for European integration. It is worth mentioning that in parliament the majority coalition signed with the European People’s Party of Moldova (PPEM), a political formation outside the coalition, a partnership agreement on meeting the European integration goal. Yet, I firmly believe that larger solidarity is needed to guarantee success of the European vector in Moldova. Therefore, I appeal entire society, ordinary citizens, civic activists, parties of any color, creation unions, professional associations and other profiles, local communities – to show solidarity all of us, having a supreme goal, building European Moldova! I firmly believe that we manage to overpass consequences of earlier crisis, some problems, therefore I think the time is ripe for launching, as premier, an appeal for Moldova’s future!
I have repeatedly said this openness and I invite again to a closer partnership between the state institutions and civil society. Beyond the work on different draft decisions, laws and other documents, we should set that “EU member state” be written beside Moldova!
Representatives of the civil society contributed to meeting the goals in the roadmap, made necessary pressure in order to mobilize us to regain confidence of foreign partners towards Moldova. I hope that during this period, I managed to prove my good faith and focus on concrete results for the country. I realized that there is one direction: facts for the benefit of citizens, facts in relations with civil society and facts in dialogue with the foreign partners. Here we are about to restore at a higher level support for Moldova at regional, European and international stages.
Our path does not end at this time, but we are before new beginning. Unfortunately, we have a too divided society by different political and geopolitical views, by hidden interests and increasing gaps in terms of people’s living conditions. That’s why, I think we need a national idea meant to unite us, to ensure perspective to overcome divergences, to clearly show what to do in the coming years in order to build a prosperous and stable Moldova. This project may be only one – Moldova’s EU integration!
This is the explanation for which the government has the EU-Moldova Association Agreement on the basis of its activity programme. Despite difficulties we are currently facing, the EU offers us values and development model, necessary for Moldova and its citizens.
Now we are elaborating new solutions to future of Europe, taking into account both the UK’s exit from the EU and other challenges, such as immigrants’ crisis or terrorist threats. Therefore, we have to realistically show and boldly assert aspirations. It is up to us to prove that Moldova deserves to be part of a future project of Europe. This is possible, if all those who believe in Moldova’s European path will join their efforts and will personally involve in. Let us preserve diversity and our pluralism of opinions on other topics, as well as have a joint pact and work on “European Moldova” project!
Therefore, I reiterate the appeal to strengthen all pro-European forces to entire society, all responsible political forces, as well as to each citizen wishing better future for Moldova!
Pavel Filip, Prime Minister of Moldova.
