Over 500 Moldovans pre-register to vote abroad at parliamentary elections due in next autumn

Over 500 Moldovans have pre-registered to vote abroad at the parliamentary elections due in next autumn. The process started on April 22. In total, in recent years, over 113,500 citizens from more than 80 countries have registered to participate in voting outside the country's borders. The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) unveiled data to this effect, at a request by MOLDPRES.

Contacted by the agency, the head of the CEC's Communication, Public Relations, and Media Department, Rodica Sirbu, said that most registered citizens were from Italy - approximately 23,000, followed by citizens from the United Kingdom - 16,434, Germany - 15,090, Russia - 14,181, France - 9,395, Romania - 7,267, Ireland - 5,393, and the USA - 4,673.

“The purpose of pre-registration is to assess the number of Moldovans who intend to vote abroad, a necessary criterion for establishing polling stations abroad. Citizens who have already registered for previous elections and have not changed their place of residence abroad do not need to re-register,” Rodica Sîrbu noted.

Citizens eligible to vote, who want to cast their vote abroad at the parliamentary elections due on September 28, 2025, can register through the online application “Pre-Registration,” launched by CEC.

“The registration will last till August 14, observing the term of 45 days before the election day. To register, voters can access the page https://inregistrare.cec.md, where they will be able to fill in the data required,” Rodica Sirbu added.

The parliamentary elections will take place on September 28, 2025.
