Romanian, Moldovan education ministers give joint news conference
Romania will continue to support projects and programs in the field of education and research, implemented in Moldova. Thus, the sides will support each other on the path of development of science in a democratic society. Romania's Minister of Education and Research Daniel David in Chisinau today made statements to this effect at a joint press conference given with his counterpart from Moldova Dan Perciun.
The Romanian official emphasized that representatives of the ministries from the two countries were set to discuss initiatives that would be fulfilled after the 2026 year. These initiatives concern important projects and opportunities in education and research.
"Thank you very much for the invitation to come to Chisinau. I am glad that we have more bilateral projects and extremely important partnerships. Areas related to education, science and research are the most important in a society. Thus, we lead two powerful ministries that deal with generating knowledge through research and disseminating it through education. We stay close on this way. The social fabric and democratic institutions are changing, and science plays a very important role in this process. Therefore, we will continue the programmess in the fields of science and research and support each other," said Daniel David.
He also informed that, starting with the new school year, the Romanian digital library EduLib would be accessible to teachers and children in Moldova.
"The measure will help in the development of education. I assure you that we will continue to develop useful projects for both countries. Also, we will provide grants to researchers from Moldova, who will generate new programmes, knowledge and career opportunities," Daniel David said.
For his part, Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun thanked Romania for the support provided over the years in carrying out numerous important projects in education, science and research.
"Thanks to the financial support provided by the Romanian state, we managed to purchase school buses and carry out multiple joint research projects. We rely on this assistance to continue implementing new joint programmes from the support amounting to 100 million euros, offered by Romania to Moldova. At the same time, over 100 Romanian language teachers from Moldova have participated in training courses in Romania. This year, the number of teaching staff attending these courses will be even higher. Similarly, summer camps are organized for students in Romania and Moldova. These initiatives are essential and strengthen the good cooperation between the two states," highlighted Dan Perciun.
Also, the minister addressed projects aimed at researchers of Moldova, bringing them closer to the European scientific space.
"Twenty-five important projects will be carried out, totaling 3.75 million euros. The results for these have already been announced. The initiatives will be followed by another 25 projects in the field of science and research. The total allocated amount for both rounds is 7.5 million euros. We thank you for all the support provided. We appreciate your openness to research projects. Thanks to Romania, our country's researchers will integrate more easily into the European research circuit," Dan Perciun stressed.
