Moldovan PM visits Mircesti Winery – tourist complex from Ungheni district

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu has visited the Mircesti Winery - a tourist complex in the central Ungheni district, Mircesti village, with an area of 250 square meters and vineyards spanning 15 hectares.

In discussions with the business owner, Arcadie Fosnea, the PM appreciated the efforts to preserve the winemaking tradition and encouraged the continuation of initiatives that bring economic and tourist benefits to the entire region: “The result of your work is obvious both in the international awards received and in the growing appreciation on behalf of consumers for the wines you produce.”

The winery's production goal is 100,000 bottles annually, using local and European grape varieties. All types of wine are exported to various countries, including Romania, Poland, Canada, China and Japan.

The business has become an emblem of small wineries of Moldova, thanks to its modern approach to wine production. The winery has been recently was equipped with a meteorological data generation station and employees apply modern vine pruning strategies and testing against diseases.

To promote tourism in the region, in 2021, the company received financial support worth 30,000 euros under the EU4Moldova: Focal Regions programme, funded by the European Union. The grant got, along with the company's own contribution, was directed toward equipping eight hotel rooms with furniture, sanitary equipment and climate control systems. The complex provides accommodation services, hiking, traditional holiday events, wine tours and visits to folk craftsmen.

In September 2024, a new hiking trail was inaugurated, named, Little Tuscany of Moldova, spanning approximately 80 kilometers, connecting Mircesti Winery to the Sculeni border crossing point.
