Chisinau, November 4, 2026 – Data on road traffic, road infrastructure, transport and parking will be available on a common digital platform. This provision is included in a draft law on intelligent transport systems (ITS), examined by the parliamentary commission for economy, budget and finance today.

The legislative initiative, drafted by the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry (MIDR), aims to establish a legal framework for the coordinated and coherent use of intelligent transport systems throughout Moldova, in accordance with European standards.

To this end, a National Access Point will be created as an official platform for collecting and managing data related to intelligent transport systems. It will include data on travel information services, road traffic, road safety, as well as safe parking areas for trucks and commercial vehicles. The new platform will facilitate data exchange between public authorities, infrastructure managers and transport operators. In addition, an interoperable eCall system will be established at the national level.

The MIDR will coordinate policies in the field of ITS, while a National ITS Council will be established under the Prime Minister. The National Access Point will be managed by the National Road Transport Agency, while its technical administration will be handled by the Information Technology and Cyber Security Service.

The draft law on intelligent transport systems will be submitted to parliament for consideration in the first reading. After adoption, the law will enter into force one month after its publication in the Official Journal. Subsequently, within six months, the government will draft and approve the regulations necessary for its implementation.
