Nine beneficiaries from the Republic of Moldova have been approved under the European URBACT IV programme and will receive resources worth a total of €508,160. The projects will contribute to sustainable urban development, the improvement of public spaces, urban mobility and the strengthening of local public administration capacities.

The decisions were taken during the URBACT IV Monitoring Committee meeting held on 28 October 2026 in Dublin, Ireland, where the Republic of Moldova was represented by the State Chancellery, in its capacity as the National Authority for Interreg Programmes.

During the meeting, 25 Action Planning Networks were approved at European level, four of which include partners from the Republic of Moldova. The projects address public space safety, the development of local food systems, artificial intelligence infrastructure planning and sustainable mobility.

At the same time, five localities were selected under the URBACT Accelerator for Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova: Călărași, Nisporeni, Ștefan Vodă, Cahul and Bubuieci. They will receive support to develop solutions for public space regeneration, pedestrian safety, public transport and youth engagement in the community.

Of the total budget of €508,160, €388,160 is earmarked for participation in the Action Planning Networks, while €120,000 is allocated to three projects under the URBACT Accelerator. The other two selected localities will benefit from expertise and exchange of experience.

On 28–29 October in Dublin, progress in implementing the URBACT IV programme was also examined, along with the priorities of the future URBACT V programme, with a focus on simplifying procedures and continuing European support for urban development.
