Chisinau, February 22 /MOLDPRES/- The team of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) will be expanded from 73 to 84 personnel units. Government approved a decision on the matter at the initiative of the MAIA, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

"The changes are necessary to strengthen the capacities of the ministry by taking over the functions of developing state policy in the field of land relations and land monitoring. Thus, the Land Improvements and Land Fund Service will be transformed into the Directorate. Also, the Hydro Improvement Service will be created", said Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea.

Another new element is the establishment of subdivisions responsible for the digitization, automation and mechanization of agriculture. According to the official, at the current stage, increasing productivity and competitiveness in the agricultural sector is unthinkable without a digitalization policy of this sector.
