
Moldovan parliament speaker, deputy speaker of Azerbaijan discuss strengthening of bilateral inter-parliamentary dialogue
Chisinau, 8 November /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has had a meeting with Deputy Chairman of the Parliament of Azerbaijan Ali Huseynli, on an official visit to Moldova, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The officials discussed perspectives of consolidating the inter-parliamentary dialogue and appreciated the positive dynamic of the Moldovan-Azeri relations on the last period. ‘’In all these years, our countries have mutually recognized the sovereignty and territorial integrity within the internationally recognized borders. In 2022, with Russia’s invasion in Ukraine, we are aware of the importance of peace even more,’’ the parliament speaker said.
Another subject on the agenda of the discussions was focused on the energy crisis. Igor Grosu stressed that Moldova day by day was trying to diversify its sources and that the country was interested in initiating joint projects concerning energy. ‘’In the context of the challenges faced by the country, we rely also on the attraction of investments in such sectors as processing agricultural production, energy efficiency, IT, logistics and transport,’’ the Moldovan parliament speaker noted.
Also today, the Moldovan parliament hosts an exhibition of topic-related photos, at an initiative by the Embassy of Azerbaijan. The event is part of a string of activities carried out by the Embassy, on the occasion of the 270th anniversary of the Shusha city – the cultural capital of Azerbaijan. The exhibition presents the history of the settlement, which is of special cultural significance and spiritual value for the Azeri nation. The photos show more historical buildings, monuments and museums which evoke outstanding personalities of Azerbaijan.
The exhibition will be open till the end of this week.
