Moldovan PM says Moldova, along with Romania, identifies more opportunities for investments, trade, development, joint projects
Chisinau, 23 March /MOLDPRES/ - Opportunities of strengthening the Moldovan-Romanian economic relations and possibilities of speeding up Moldova’s European integration were discussed at a today’s enlarged meeting of Prime Ministers of Moldova and Romania, respectively Dorin Recean and Nicolae Ciuca, on an official visit to Moldova, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The two PMs referred to projects under implementation, carried out with the Romanian government’s support, among which the modernization of three bridges across the Prut river, activation of the joint control regime at the Leuseni-Albita border crossing point, turning to account of 58 infrastructure projects within the European Village programme.
The prime ministers emphasized the need to consolidate the infrastructure of the bridges across the Prut river and improve the cross-border connectivity, in order to facilitate the commercial and social exchanges. The officials agreed on the launching, in next May, of the pontoon bridge Leova-Bumbata and in next April, the sides are sign agreements on the modernization of three existing bridges: Sculeni – Sculeni, Cahul – Oancea, Leuseni – Albita.
„The projects carried out with the support of Romania are aimed at improving the living standards of each citizen. There is no settlement without a Romanian presence. I express confidence that this presence will be growing and will be mutual. We work to develop the capacity of interconnection of the power networks, as well as for the integration of the infrastructure on the energy market, through the organization of platforms for commercialization,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean stressed.
The officials referred to the need to turn to good account the potential of cooperation in the economic, energy, infrastructure and IT sectors, as well as to launch new joint projects, for the benefit of both states’ citizens. The officials also discussed ways of deepening the Moldovan-Romanian strategic partnership for Moldova’s European integration. In the context, PM Dorin Recean reiterated Moldova’s strategic objective – accession to the European Union till 2030.
„Romania is our advocate in all European institutions. We manage to quickly and efficiently coordinate ourselves with Bucharest on files of mutual interest, in the spirit of solidarity and special relation, in which we share the past, manage the present and edify the future,’’ Dorin Recean said.
Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca reiterated the Romanian state’s support for Moldova’s European integration and expressed appreciation for the Moldovan authorities for the ‘’reestablishment of the historical truth’’ and recognition of the Romanian language as official language of Moldova. ‘’The repair of injustices from the Soviet period reconfirms the community of language, culture and history between Moldova and Romania, as well as the deepness of our spiritual relations,’’ Romanian PM Nicolae Ciuca said.
In the end of the meeting, Prime Ministers Dorin Recean and Nicolae Ciuca held a news conference, which can be watched on the government’s Facebook page.
