Moldovan president unveils activity report on first six months of mandate

Chisinau, 24 June /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today unveiled the activity report for the first six months of mandate. The head of state said that, on this period, her major concerns had been the pandemic, economic crisis, getting the country out of isolation and fight against corruption, the presidential press service has reported.  
Thus, the presidential institution has worked on these four important directions:  
1. Supply with vaccine. The head of state said that, while at the taking over of the mandate, Moldova had not had even a National Immunization Plan approved and the authorities had not taken any effort to provide with vaccine, presently, we have access to vaccine for everybody. Also, to support the medical system in the fight against the pandemic, during these six months, Moldova has got generous donations for the health system.   
2. Economy. The Moldovan president said that Moldova had managed to get an unprecedented economic support on behalf of EU – plan on economic recovery worth 600 million euros for a three-year period. Also, to back the agricultural sector, hit by drought, at our request, Romania provided humanitarian assistance in form of 6,000 tons of diesel.
3. Respect. Maia Sandu said that she had worked to improve the country’s image and restore the relations with the important foreign partners for Moldova. Thus, the presidents of Romania, Lithuania, as well as the president of the European Council were on visits to Chisinau. The head of state had phone and online conversations with over ten heads of state and government, leaders of international organizations. Also, President Maia Sandu went on visits abroad, where she agreed on and signed more important agreements and initiated discussions on projects and programmes on development and investments for Moldova and its citizens. According to the head of state, these projects and programmes will be announced and launched in the months to come.  
4. The fight against corruption was also a permanent subject on the Presidency’s agenda. At the Supreme Security Council (CSS), discussions were held on the most resounding corruption files and the president repeatedly demanded that the state’s institutions do their job to prevent and sanction the corruption. In early June, the head of state signed the degree on the setting up of the Anticorruption Independent Consultative Committee and following approaches by the Presidency, the government of the United Kingdom ordered the return of a sum of 458,000 pounds, confiscated from Luca Filat.  
„During six months, we started changing a lot of things. We have chance to carry these changes through. We have done all that we were able to do humanly and as presidential power; yet, for a change for the better, a good government and parliament are needed, which are to work for the people,’’ Maia Sandu said. She urged the Moldovan citizens to go to vote on 11 July 2021.
