
Moldovan-Romanian commission of inquiry to investigate causes of SMURD helicopter crash
Chisinau, 3 June /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip held an urgent meeting with heads of institutions involved in elucidating causes of plane crash occurred in Cantemir district on 2 June. All four crew members: pilot, co-pilot, doctor and paramedic died, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The premier conveyed condolences on behalf of the government and on his own behalf to families of victims, and expressed gratitude for sacrifice of heroes in the rescue mission of human lives.
“Here in Moldova we appreciate the work of these people and we are grateful for support provided in saving patients. Their work was one of sacrifice, of true heroes. Now our duty is do everything to find out causes of the crash and this will prove our respect for those who with dedication and courage have met the noble mission of rescuers”, he said.
Filip pointed out that the inquiry into the helicopter crash must be as complete and objective.
“At this stage, there is a very good communication at level of institutions responsible for elucidating the crash causes and we will do our best in order to come up with a result of the investigation as soon as possible. It is a moral duty firstly and a sign of respect for the crash victims to bring clarity in this case”, he said.
Romanian Ambassador to Chisinau Marius Lazurca thanked the Moldovan authorities for attention paid to investigating the causes of the tragic crash, underlining two common goals: repatriation of heroes and ensuring all conditions to investigate the case. To this end, it was agreed to create a common investigation commission. Lazurca appreciated the exemplary manner and promptness of the institutions and thanked the premier for this.
Filip reiterated that the SMURD service’s aid for Moldova was very important and necessary. He reminded that the tragic intervention of SMURD had been the 20th rescue mission in Moldova.
