Moldovan President at Teacher of Year 2025 Gala
President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu participated in Teacher of the Year 2025 Gala today, and congratulated the teaching staff and employees in the educational system for their work and dedication.
'Today we express our gratitude to you – those who open horizons and ignite curiosity in our children. Thank you for the enormous responsibility you assume day by day,' said the head of state.
During the ceremony, winners were announced in the categories Teacher of the Year, Educator of the Year and Professor of the Year. Maia Sandu congratulated both the laureates and all participants, highlighting their dedication, passion, and desire to continuously improve in the service of children and education. The list of winners can be found here.
In her message, the President also recalled the European choice made by the citizens of the Republic of Moldova in last Sunday's election, emphasizing the essential role of schools and teachers in building a European Moldova: 'The European future of our country is built in every classroom in the village and city. Thank you for patience, dedication and belief that every child can succeed when supported and encouraged.'
Maia Sandu noted the increasing tendency of young people to choose the teaching profession. In 2025 alone, more than 426 young specialists have been employed in schools and kindergartens – the highest number in the last eight years. In this context, the head of state reaffirmed that education remains a national priority: 'Supporting teachers and ensuring decent working conditions is a state obligation and an investment in both the future of our children and the future of the Republic of Moldova.'
