President attends ethnocultural festival 2025
President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu participated today in ethnocultural festival 2025, which gathered hundreds of representatives of ethnic communities from our country in the center of the capital.
In her message to the participants, the head of state emphasized the importance of unity and mutual respect in society, regardless of ethnicity, language, or culture. "When we were united, we were able to build and lived in peace. When we were divided, we all lost. Therefore, peace begins in our hearts. Without it, we cannot build anything lasting," Maia Sandu mentioned.
The head of state drew attention to attempts at division and reaffirmed that "The people of Moldova want peace, not conflict. Peace is not divided by communities or regions. It is for everyone or not at all."
Additionally, the President spoke about the role of learning the Romanian language and the value of preserving and promoting the languages of ethnic communities in the Republic of Moldova. "Mutual respect also means respect for the languages we speak. The Romanian language helps us communicate with each other, stay informed, and have more opportunities. At the same time, the languages spoken by our communities - Ukrainian, Russian, Gagauz, Bulgarian, and others - are part of Moldova's richness. To preserve and pass them on means to respect our people's roots," Maia Sandu further pointed out.
Addressing citizens also in Russian, the head of state added: "Since February 2022, my main goal has been and remains maintaining peace in Moldova. And I will continue this mission - together with you and with your support."
The 24th festival is organized under the theme Unity through Diversity. The full speech can be followed here.
