Moldovan President at Teachers' Gala 2025
On Teacher of the Year 2025 competition gala, President of Moldova Maia Sandu delivered an emotional and grateful message to teachers across the country.
In her speech, the head of state emphasized the essential role of teachers, instructors, educators, librarians, psycho-pedagogues, and speech therapists in shaping children's future and promoting democratic values.
'Today we express our gratitude to you, those who open horizons and spark curiosity in our children,' stated Maia Sandu.
The President congratulated all the competition participants, appreciating the courage and dedication.
'You have shown that you are never content with just getting by, but strive to identify new methods to make classes more engaging and accessible. Education is the most powerful defense tool – it protects our democracy, freedom, and the right to choose our own destiny,' emphasized the head of state.
Maia Sandu highlighted current challenges for schools and teachers: digitalization, artificial intelligence, climate, and demographic changes.
'It is important to teach children to use technology with discernment, to think critically, to innovate, and to protect the environment. But the human aspect – character, empathy, and solidarity – remains irreplaceable, and here the teachers' role is essential,' the President mentioned.
In the context of European integration, Maia Sandu noted that education plays a crucial role in transmitting European values: democracy, freedom, and truth.
'The European future of our country must be built in every classroom, in every lesson, and in every child who learns to think freely and value democracy,' the head of state declared.
Additionally, the President noted the growing interest of young people in the teaching profession, highlighting that 2025 saw the highest number of young individuals choosing to teach in schools and kindergartens in the past eight years.
'Supporting teachers and ensuring decent working conditions is an investment in our children's and Moldova's future,' Maia Sandu emphasized.
At the end, the President expressed gratitude for the dedication and patience of educators, wishing them health and strength to continue transforming children's lives through education.
Teachers' Day 2025 thus became a moment to celebrate teachers' contributions to society's development and the strengthening of Moldova's democratic future.
