Former Moldovan MP detained at border, escorted to Chisinau

A former MP of the Moldovan Democratic Party (PDM), Constantin Tutu, today was detained by border police at the Vulcanesti border crossing point. The detention took place at 19:50.

According to the Border Police, Constantin Tutu is being escorted to the detention center in Chisinau, where he will be held in custody. Authorities announce that investigations will continue.

The former PDM lawmaker, Constantin Tutu, was put on an international wanted list on September 24, after failing to appear at a court hearing.

Constantin Tutu was detained in Athens in last July, together with the former Democratic leader, Vlad Plahotniuc. He was released by the Greek judiciary on September 3, this year.

The former PDM MP is under investigation for influence peddling and illicit enrichment. His cases were initially brought before the court in May 2020 and November 2021, and subsequently merged into a single case, which is currently being examined at the Chisinau Court.
