Moldovan president hosts group of young participants of the European Model Union Moldova project at Presidency

President Maia Sandu has welcomed a group of young participants in the Presidential Library for the second edition of the European Model Union Moldova initiative. Over 100 young people from various regions of the country discussed with the head of state topics regarding civic participation of youth, Moldova's accession to the European Union and the importance of combating disinformation.

During the discussions, President Maia Sandu emphasized the importance of the  involvement of young people in the state's decision-making processes and in Moldova's European path. The young attendees showed active interest in the country's future, posing questions to the president about reforms in education, employment, protection of democracy and the country’s European integration.

The European Model Union is an initiative to simulate decision-making processes in the most important European institutions. By assuming such roles as Members of the European Parliament, European Commissioners, political advisers, and journalists, within a structured framework modeled after European institutions, participants will have opportunity to understand the decision-making mechanisms in the European Parliament. The initiative is at its second edition and is organized with financial support of the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, within the EU4Youth: Youth Engagement and Empowerment project.
