Speaker thanks Moldovans with Romanian citizenship for voting

Moldovans with Romanian citizenship in Moldova who participated in the presidential elections in Romania have shown that they are united and represent a strong voice. Speaker Igor Grosu conveys congratulations to Nicușor Dan, who decisively won the presidential elections in Romania, and expressed appreciation for the Moldovans who voted.

“Thank you, dear Moldovans with Romanian citizenship both at home and abroad. We have demonstrated that we are united and we are a strong voice. The record turnout shows how engaged our citizens are and how much we care about the future of Romania and Moldova,” wrote the speaker on his Facebook account.

Grosu emphasized that the vote of Moldovans demonstrates the common European future of citizens on both sides of the Prut River.

“Our heart beats with great love for the Romanian nation, for the common European future of citizens on both sides of the Prut River,” Grosu said.

The Speaker congratulated Nicușor Dan on his victory in the presidential elections.

“Congratulations, Nicușor Dan! Congratulations, Romania! Together we are strong!”, he said.

President Maia Sandu also extended congratulations, emphasizing that Moldova will stand alongside Romania on the European path.

Premier Dorin Recean highlighted in his message that Moldovans are strong when united for a European future.

According to the provisional results, Nicușor Dan received votes from 5,968,417 Romanian citizens or 53.99%. His opponent, the leader of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), George Simion, received 5,086,305 votes or 46.01%. The voter turnout was 11,641,866 or 64.72%.

Moldovans with Romanian citizenship demonstrated unprecedented mobilization in the second round of the presidential elections in Romania. Over three days of voting, more than 158 thousand people expressed their choice at polling stations in our country. This number is a record and significantly exceeds the one registered in the first round of the presidential elections in Romania, held two weeks ago, when approximately 91,000 Moldovans with Romanian citizenship exercised their right to vote over three days.
