Deputy Premier: Reintegration must be based on gradual rapprochement of two banks of Dniester
Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri participated today, September 29, in the presentation of the study - Transnistrian Region in 2026: Structural Crisis, Economic Convergence and Reintegration Prospects, developed by the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives (IDIS) Viitorul in partnership with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Moldova (FES).
The study analyzes socioeconomic developments in the Transnistrian region and proposes recommendations on phasing a gradual convergence process in the fiscal, customs, financial and banking, and social sectors.
During the event, Chiveri spoke about the authorities’ priorities in the reintegration process and the measures undertaken to gradually bring the two banks of the Dniester closer together.
“Reintegration is a process that must be built step by step, by bringing people, communities and systems closer together. Our objective is for citizens on both banks to have access to the same services, opportunities and rights,” he said.
Valeriu Chiveri emphasized that convergence measures must be promoted gradually and take into account the economic and social realities on both banks of the Dniester.
The event brought together representatives of public institutions, experts and civil society representatives.
