Prime Minister and Norway’s Ambassador approach strengthening Moldovan-Norwegian relations, continuing joint projects
Strengthening bilateral relations, continuing joint projects with a focus on energy and education, and attracting Norwegian investments to the Republic of Moldova were discussed by Prime Minister Vasile Tofan and Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway Anne Kjersti Amundsen.
The Prime Minister welcomed the opening of the Norwegian Embassy in Chișinău, noting that a permanent diplomatic presence would facilitate dialogue and the development of new projects between the two countries.
During the meeting, the officials discussed cooperation priorities for the coming period. The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of continuing projects that contribute to reducing energy vulnerability and protecting citizens during the cold season. Through Nansen Programme, Norway supports the Republic of Moldova, including through assistance for vulnerable households.
Another priority is the continuation of projects in the field of education. The Prime Minister appreciated Norway’s support for the modernization of Model Schools, emphasizing the impact of these investments on improving study conditions for students and teachers.
The officials also discussed opportunities to expand economic cooperation and attract Norwegian investments to the Republic of Moldova. The talks additionally focused on strengthening the country’s resilience amid regional challenges, including support for Ukrainian refugees and cooperation in the field of defense.
