Prime Minister urges Moldovan companies to prepare for and harness economic opportunities generated by Ukraine’s reconstruction

The Republic of Moldova will be an active partner in Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction process, and Moldovan companies must prepare for the economic opportunities that are emerging. The message was conveyed by Prime Minister Vasile Tofan at the event Moldova – Partner in Ukraine’s Recovery and Reconstruction, which brought together representatives of the business community, financial institutions, and development partners.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the geographical proximity, close relationship between the two countries, and capabilities of companies in the Republic of Moldova create the conditions for mutually beneficial projects. “Opportunities exist, and I truly believe that both Moldovan and Ukrainian companies can benefit from them,” said the Prime Minister.

Vasile Tofan highlighted several areas where concrete cooperation opportunities already exist. They include developing storage capacities in the Republic of Moldova for Ukrainian companies and supplying the materials needed for reconstruction. He emphasized the need to develop generation capacities and new interconnections, including with the support of European partners, in order to increase the capacity for energy exchanges between the two countries.

“We are talking about what could become the largest reconstruction project since the World War II – approximately 600 billion dollars. In logistics, energy, construction materials, and infrastructure, Moldova can play a real role. The study conducted by Kyiv School of Economics and AmCham Moldova identified about 400 opportunities for companies in our country,” declared the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister urged Moldovan companies to develop partnerships with the Ukrainian business community and identify concrete projects. At the same time, the Government will continue to facilitate economic activity by improving the tax and customs framework, reducing bureaucracy, and developing infrastructure.

“We have demonstrated that we are a good neighbor and a good partner. We want to transform this warm and friendly relationship into business opportunities as well. These opportunities can and must be mutually beneficial,” Tofan emphasized.

The event Moldova – Partner in Ukraine’s Recovery and Reconstruction is organized as part of Moldova Business Week 2026 by AmCham Moldova in partnership with the Investment Agency.
